TLC | Becoming Future Ready
If student engagement is the key to learner success, what kind of environment do we need to create and sustain to engage our learners?
We have been on a journey for the past three years, determined to understand who we are as an organisation and discovering that our community's character is one of Belonging, Believing and Becoming. Noting that here at 成人B站 we see all people as learners in a process of becoming who they were created to be.
We are committed to understanding what it means to be a Lakes Learner while creating an approach to learning that supports engaged learners prepared for a range of futures. Our work with the community last year yielded our Lakes Learner attributes of Faith, Knowledge, Curiosity, Character and Connection, all vital characteristics that require attention from Prep through to Year 12.
Our staff have been compelled to develop a suite of Pedagogical Intentions that hold us accountable to our educational craft. These intentions have been designed to thread together the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL) and the well-respected work of Marzano (The New Art and Science of Teaching). These intentions are unique to 成人B站 and will guide our teachers in the very important work they do each and every day.
This collection of work has now been woven together to reveal our own approach to learning - Our TEACHING and LEARNING CULTURE (Our TLC). With this work now finding its way into the DNA of our Lakes approach to learning, we focus our attention to the built and natural environment and together with community seek to consider the following two questions:
If student engagement is the key to learner success how can our built and natural environment contribute to Learner Engagement?
How do these spaces and places at TLC assist in growing and safeguarding learner attributes while promoting future readiness?
As we prepare for our Master Plan development, we see these two questions as vital in delivering a plan that honours the development of young people ready to enter the world beyond school.
On behalf of the College Board, I encourage you to join us and our College architects at the upcoming Community Consultation Morning as we consider the needs of our growing College, exploring the expansion of our innovative and flexible learning spaces, areas of refresh and redesign as we prepare to co-create a plan that will sustain the College across the next 10 years.
We invite parents, carers, and students (Yr 5 鈥� 12) to join the College at our Community Consultation Morning on Saturday 19 August 2023 to explore with our architects and the College Board the future educational trends and key priorities for the College as we consider the needs of future graduates.
The morning will be facilitated by Madison Ducat and Natalie Bush of McLellan Bush Architects, who have extensive experience in school master planning projects. To be part of this morning please register your attendance through the following link:
