House Showcase: A Celebration of Talent and Spirit

The entire Secondary School came alive with song, dance, and drama during our annual House Showcase on Foundation Day. The competition was fierce, with each of our four Houses putting in weeks of planning, choreographing, and rehearsing for their one-off performances.

4th Place: Kumbarchu

Kumbarchu took us on a nostalgic journey to the past after two students wandered into the ‘Museum of Time’ and found themselves transported into classic movies. From being kidnapped by the Men In Black to skateboarding with Marty McFly and a knock-off version of Doc Brown, swinging through trees with George of the Jungle, dancing with the Pink Ladies and T-Birds, and making friends with all the Toy Story characters, the students of Kumbarchu committed themselves to entertaining us all with this delightful trip down memory lane.

3rd Place: Kittabilla

Kittabilla rocked out in dad’s garage as the kids went through his old CD collection, whilst also explaining to some of our younger students just what a CD is. In just ten minutes, Kittabilla took us through six decades of music, stomping it out to ‘We Will Rock You’, moonwalking to ‘Beat It’, and putting on a true 90’s live performance of ‘Song 2’ by Blur featuring special guest Mr. Sgualdino. They also sang their hearts out to ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’ and finished by flipping their way through a bunch of 00’s favourites, whipping and nay-naying to the end of 2020’s with big energy and big smiles.

2nd Place: Nyani

Nyani took us through 20 years of memories as TLC “Alumni” looked back at their school days fondly. The reminiscing started in Prep and continued as they recalled singing Christmas Carols poorly at the Night of Celebrations. The stress of the ‘Final Countdown’ to assignments, exams, and deadlines and joining the workforce to pay those ‘Bills’ may not have been their favourite memories, but boy they sure made them look enjoyable with their dazzling costumes and funky moves. They remembered their first crush as Taylor Swift played in the background, and the importance of big school events like the Swimming Carnival. The final core memory saw our “Alumni” graduating and leaving TLC through the Guard of Honour, which was fitting as we celebrated 20 Years of TLC.

1st Place: Tabbil

Tabbil House wowed the judges as they took us to grandpa’s 80th birthday where we kicked off singing ‘Happy Birthday’ before spending the time reminiscing on the most important memories of his life including his wedding day where he ‘Couldn’t Help Falling In Love’, watching his footy team win the championship which was ‘Simply The Best’, and when he ‘Shook It Off’ at the Taylor Swift concert with his granddaughter. Their impeccable choreography, hilarious acting, and spirited performance earned them the Showcase Trophy for the second year in a row!

A big thank you to our Secondary Heads of House and House Captains for all the effort that went into these unforgettable performances that make House Showcase so enjoyable. We would also like to thank our Year 4, 5, and 6 students and teachers and all the parents and carers who cheered on our performers. A final thank you to our effervescent MC Mr Stein, who got the crowd going, and to our judges Mrs Gregory, Mr Patmore, Mrs Wellins and Miss Brown who had to make the tough calls on the day.
